46. Mr Edward
DAFTER was born before 5 Dec 1847 in Blunsdon, Wilts.142 [[[[Birth note: aged 33 on 1881 census, IGI, in Swansea
(GL) Wales. This threw us for years. Copy of original entry has Occupation General
Laborer, over written GL, and Born Wales Swansea. When we found a possible Baptism
and other links it would appear that 1881 page was possibly miscopied in 1881
from street returns and should have read born Wilts Swindon ??]
[aged 4 1851 as 'E'. Dafter. 'Edward' from Phil Dafter then confirmed by Baptism]

He was baptized on 5 Dec 1847 in Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire.143 [Baptism note: son of Robert & Mary Ann Dafter
abode Broad Blunsdon. Fr. Trade: Dealer.
Curate: SF Auchmuty (we can find record of his family, but not him)] About 1869
he was a Labourer.144 About
Jun 1872 he was a Carman.145
He lived about 1881. About 1881 he was. About 1891 he
was a General Labour..146
He lived in Shoreditch, 38 Forston Street, Shoreditch about 1891.146 [Resided at note: He shared the house at no. 38 with
2 other families and he had a lodger, Charlotte Coolmore, a widow aged 60, a
dress Maker and born in Pentonville](Forston Street is on a 1985 Road Map of
London. It appears to be in Hoxton (in small black)(which could be in Hackney
or Islington (in large red) but Civil Parish on Census form is Shoreditch (which
is to south east (in small black)) on the map) [General note: A Difficult one
as E on 1851. Also does not appear to have had Birth registered!. CHC found Baptism
in 1847 at Wiltshire Record Office](If he married in 1890 why is he listed as
a Widower in 1891? Have we got the correct marriage) Mr Edward DAFTER and Miss
Susannah HARVEY were married about Jun 1890.147
[[Marriage note: her * husband had a father Robert, a Baker: therefore assume
"our" Edward](did she marry at 16 ** - cf a birth in Poplar in 1874:
aged 9 in 1881: but now found on 1891)(8 June 2008: where did this data come
from? - Phil Dafter has a copy of Marriage cert. (following is from Phil Dafter
email 29 Nov. 2002)
I then obtained the 1890 marriage cert and was very surprised to find it Edward
John and Jane Smith Dunbar but EDWARD and SUSANNAH HARVEY this would not (?
the not) mean that Louisa Dafter died sometime between 1881 and 1890.
(info from marriage cert) year 1890 church St Judes (no longer there), Bethnal
Green. EDWARD *** aged 44 widower Occupation: Labourer address: 10 Clarkson Street
Father: ROBERT DAFTER Occupation: BAKER (it appears that he may of been live
at time as the brides father is stated as being deceased) I can't seem to find
any date of death for ROBERT (or Edward come to that). Witness: JOHN DAFTER and
an Ellen Forder?.]

aged 41 in Jun q 1889 in London]](BUT Note: He is as a Widower in 1891 in Shoreditch,
London)(** There is a Susannah Harvey marrying in Dec q 1901 in Poplar)(*** Which
Edward Dafter - with a father Robert a Baker - was this? note age 44 is correct
for 'ours'. Therefore SH was another one. ie did she die (cannot find a suitable
death) or did they part? If so where was she and what name in 1891 census?)
Miss Susannah HARVEY was born before 1872.

Harvey in this area with birth dates more in keeping with a marriage in 1890)

widower!! I cannot find a death or a remarriage of a Susannah]] Mr Edward DAFTER
and Miss Louisa JONES were married on 31 Oct 1869 in St James the Great, Bethnal
Green, London.144,148 [[Marriage note: from Phil Dafter. We assume Edward
Dafter][her husband had a father Robert, a baker, therefore assume "our"
Edward]] Miss Louisa JONES was born about 1849.
[[Birth note: from Phil Dafter][as Louisa E aged 32 in 1881]](FBMD has several
LJ 1848/1849 b Shoreditch, Bethnal green, E and W London)(the only Louisa E is
1850 in St Martin)[If this one :Death note: as Louisa Elizabeth aged 41 in Jun
q 1889 (note remarriage ? of Edward in 1890 ?] She lived about 1881.
She died about Jun 1889 in London C R-d.149
